Credit decisions through chat: Sentinel AI is now MCP ready

For the first time, AI-led lending journeys don’t have to stop at the conversation.

Sentinel AI — our decision management platform — now supports Model Context Protocol (MCP). AI agents can connect directly to Sentinel AI, trigger a full credit decision, and return an answer — all within the same interaction, without redirects or broken workflows.

This changes how lending journeys begin, how workflows are triggered, and how decisioning integrates into AI-native experiences.

A new era in agentic lending

The AI transformation in lending is much more than just chat interfaces and bots. While most lenders focus on the front-end experience, the real transformation must happen behind-the-scenes.

After all, UX is a function of a well-oiled risk and decisioning machinery.

Real efficiency gains only come when lenders can build agentic applications that orchestrate workflows, decisioning, analytics, and simulations within a single governed system.

For the past couple of months, lenders have been putting AI at the front of their lending journeys. Chatbots, copilots, conversational interfaces — the front-end experience has genuinely gotten good. A borrower can open an app, talk to an AI, understand their options, and feel like they're being helped.

And then the AI hits a wall.

It can't underwrite. It can't price. It can't approve. So, it does what every AI in lending does today — it redirects the applicant to either a website, application or form.

The conversation ends and the process begins, and somewhere in that gap, the experience that someone spent months designing falls apart.

The problem lies in the fact that the decisioning layer underneath was never built for this. Traditional BREs received structured API calls from known systems.  An AI agent in the middle of a conversation couldn't discover and invoke them dynamically because they weren't built for that.

That changes today with the Sentinel AI’s MCP platform launch. Now lenders can build agentic lending applications and experiences on top of Sentinel AI while our decisioning platform handles all the policy complexity.

Turning underwriting and decisions into chat

Model Context Protocol (MCP) is a standard that lets AI applications talk to external tools and systems in a common language. Think of it as a universal connector. Instead of building custom integrations for every AI platform or agent, a system that implements MCP once becomes accessible to any MCP-compatible AI client.

Sentinel AI now speaks that language.

Any MCP-compatible AI agent — whether an internal copilot, FinTech interface, or third-party application — can trigger underwriting workflows directly through Sentinel AI. Bureau pulls, fraud checks, pricing logic, and policy-governed approvals can run in real time, with results returned to the agent, so the interaction continues without interruption.

What you can build with it

The most immediate use case is straightforward: a borrower asks an AI about a loan, the AI collects context through conversation, calls Sentinel AI via MCP, gets a decision, and presents an offer — all without the borrower ever leaving the chat.

But the scope goes beyond that.

Lenders building embedded finance products can now give their AI agents real underwriting capability, not just the ability to talk about underwriting. Internal credit teams can build AI copilots that run actual policy simulations, not just surface dashboards.

Partners and marketplaces integrating your lending products can do so through AI-native flows that still run on your governed credit policies.

Why now

MCP as a protocol has reached the point where it's being adopted seriously across AI platforms. The agents are there. The interfaces are there. The missing piece was a BRE that could participate in that ecosystem without asking lenders to trade away compliance, risk controls, or governance to do it.

MCP support makes Sentinel AI accessible through this new interface layer — allowing lenders to extend decisioning into AI-native environments without rewriting their core infrastructure.

Getting started

MCP support is now live within Sentinel AI.
